Little curious as to why people with mages made them. :goggle:
'Mage' is not limited to Arch Mages, and includes Bishops.

I like Magic and they level fast. I voted for the latter.

My bishop was the first character I made, and I picked it by asking the friends who introduced me to maple which class had the prettiest skills. :shine: At the time I knew nothing about the game. lol

I didn't want to invest too heavily in gear, and mages are the least gear-dependent of all classes. Going lukless makes things cheaper.

Magic fun.
End of story for me.

Back in beta I tried a couple classes and didn't like how warriors/bandits couldn't attack from a range and how archers and assassins kept whacking/punching.

I didn't see an option to use support skills to help out party members, but I guess that's covered under magic. The only skill I ever really enjoy using in the game is resurrection.

i'm always a Mage in every MMORPG so it's probably cause I love magic.

lol i wanted to boss quick

No, uh, I don't really know. I guess I wanted to level fast, since I'm ice/lightning and all.

I voted "I like magic" but I made a mage mainly because it was the only class that had heal (I made a cleric in BETA) and that seemed cool enough.

'Cause I thought mages were cool.

I didn't know any better.

Just kidding :P

I tend to pick Magician classes in games regardless of how good or bad they are. The thing I like most about Magicians in Maple Story is their simplicity. No worrying about HP washing and no need for excessive stat-hoaring. You can be a decent Magician just by leaving your LUK at 4.

I started out as an I/L Wizard as my first character but I quit and deleted it for a Cleric. The main reason was because I followed the Cold Beam first build (which was the popular unfunded build back then) and it was painfully slow. Clerics were the best character to start unfunded and they trained fast so I chose to be a Cleric instead of remaking my I/L. To be honest though, I wish I were an I/L Arch Mage sometimes since I rarely go to bosses such as Horntail or Zakum. I prefer training and Arch Mages are arguably better for that with a HS Mule.

Theres really no other reason than the fact they can do MAGIC.

Back in beta 0.1x I tried a couple classes and didn't like how warriors/bandits couldn't attack from a range and how archers and assassins kept whacking/punching.
Both of the above, though I never got far on any of my mage attempts (or anything else, for that matter).

I have an ice lightning mage, Im planning on getting it to level 80 with max ice strike because I love ice strike :f2: Fun skill.

Because they level fast. I can't stand spamming AoEs to either side of me.

I like magic for the most part, but I also like my magicians because I can self-leech.

I always enjoyed magic-related characters in rpgs (as well as archers) which is why I'd always choose to play as a mage at some point. Personally I prefer defensive supportive mages which is why my first mage was ice/lightning since they were part supportive in some sense with freezing and part attack cause they do damage as teh support. Course now I don't play my now 3 mages very often since I fell in love with my corsair, but I still make time for them. (3 mages on 3 different servers)

I wanted to collect time pieces at a faster rate~.

Also, nuking everything in sight with flaming balls of death is quite fun.

i made a mage because im a lover of magic. o-o
sure the char i have has transitioned from being a priest to now being a f/p, and ive never had an i/L, but still, the mage class offers a sort of diversity within itself that the other classes dont IMO.

I initially made one because I had a warrior and it was slow (movement) as hell and I'd see people zipping past me with teleport. I hate wasting time.
