What is Zelda Classic? (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/what.php)
Zelda Classic home page (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/)
Go here (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/downloads.php) for a list of download-able versions as well as a few other things.
If you just want a quest to play right now, then I recommend choosing something off of the top ten lists (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/topstats.php) or browsing at the pool (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/thepool.php) to see if you can find something that looks appealing to you.
When you look at a quest's listing, be sure you are using a the correct compatible version of Zelda Classic, some of the quests in the Quest Database are out of date and there's also some that only work with a custom version build specified on the quest's description.
A year or so back when I first used Zelda Classic I had some minor trouble figuring out how to load a custom quest, luckily for you I found this little tutorial so you don't have to worry about figuring out yourself:
XP6yyYyijDg
Here's some of the quests that I have already tried out:
End of Time (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/viewquest.php?q=268)
Link to the Heavens (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/viewquest.php?q=341)
Lost Isle (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/viewquest.php?q=316)
Zero Quest (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/viewquest.php?q=245) <-- Re-imagining of the first quest in Legend of Zelda, would definitely recommend giving this a try
MegaMan Dr. Wilys Revenge - Directors Cut (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/viewquest.php?q=206)
Link to Tortuga (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/viewquest.php?q=219)
There's probably a few more that I've played, but I can't remember the rest of them.
I haven't bothered to mess around with ZQuest, so I don't have very much experience about making custom games. The same guy who did the loading custom quests tutorial also did one for using ZQuest. Even though this is 15 parts so far, this tutorial video isn't technically finished yet. I've watched every part so far and I think it's pretty helpful if you want to try using ZQuest.

I've known about this game, I introduced it to my friend who's nuts with level editors, and I've never seen him since. I fear when he comes back, he'll have grown old, and will have devised a quest so mind-blowing that reaching the end would cause your head to explode.
I would play it, but I'm actually not really much for Zelda games. Not sure why.

This is quite epic. :D
I might try it sometime when I have an awesome level in mind. xP
P.S. Did you hear about La-Mulana becoming WiiWare now? :D...I just read that in my latest Nintendo Power issue. xD

I love the Zelda series. This looks pretty neat... will definitely come back to this thread and try this out later.

So yeah, I've been messing around in ZQuest. I tried duplicating the tutorial video's quest, and I have to say it does seem a little complicated to me even now after I've watched the tutorial and understand a lot of the concepts better. It's sort of hard to remember every single step necessary to get everything working properly. I'm following the tutorial step by step, so far I only have the beginning screen and the lost woods area finished and have begun to work on the third screen. It'll take quite a bit of persistence and repetition for me to learn how to use ZQuest.
I've mostly been spending time replaying Zero Quest though. I managed to get up to level four and all that's left to do there is to take down the dungeon boss.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I even bumped the La-Mulana thread with that news a while back. I think it looks pretty nice.

So, I finished the first dungeon in Zero Quest. I go trying to find the second dungeon when I, low on health, find a guy in this "Last Village" cave about to give me a bigger rupee bag. Then I accidentally bomb myself and I'm at A-1. I can't get out! D: Sometimes the enemies load invisible too so it's very frustrating. Not sure if it's just being glitchy or it's meant to be like that. I'm gonna watch the tutorial so I can make my own maps. I already make games in RPG Maker, so I really want to make some LOZ maps. :f2:
Edit: After wasting half a day watching tutorials and some tiles just not working, I'm giving up on making my own stuff for now. :f3:
Edit 2: I'm such a nub! I figured out what was wrong.

I finished playing Zero Quest and I remember why I didn't beat it back when I first played it a long while ago. In the last dungeon there is a lost woods style puzzle directly before Ganon's chamber and I couldn't figure it out then; there's a guy who says there are people that give you the hints to finish this puzzle, but I never bothered looking around for them. Using the concepts I learned through ZQuest I managed to solve this puzzle using trial and error. I actually laughed because it only took two tries for me to find the correct solution.
In case you're wondering I solved this using the following ideas:
In a lost woods puzzle you can't use the side used to exit the puzzle as a direction, so that entirely eliminates one of the directions you can use.
The fourth and final direction is pretty obvious to figure out, especially when you're in a confined place like a dungeon. You have to use the direction of where the puzzle will take you when you finish it.
For those who don't want to look for the hint givers or don't want to figure this puzzle out yourselves:
Left, Down, Left, Up
Sometimes the enemies load invisible too so it's very frustrating. Not sure if it's just being glitchy or it's meant to be like that.
I don't recall running into that problem. Are you using version 2.10 to run Zero Quest? That's the version it says to use on the quest's page.
Then I accidentally bomb myself and I'm at A-1. I can't get out! D:
I don't entirely understand how you got yourself stuck or where. If you ever get yourself stuck in a particular area again, it's best that you go to the game menu and choose Quit. It brings up the screen with the option to Continue, Save, or Retry. Choose Save and you'll more than likely reappear in an unstuck area and have all your data up to that point saved.
I did encounter a few problems during my most recent play-through of Zero Quest though. Dodongos, well this is mostly due to the map design, I managed to get myself stuck on a few maps due to the dodongos in a particular room re-spawning and resetting the rooms puzzle or I run out of bombs and couldn't kill the dodongos in the room and was stuck due to all doors in the room having shutters. This problem was most noticeable to me during level five and level nine. There's also something else that I noticed, it looks like the map coordinates are off-set when you're viewing the map on the inventory screen after you've obtained that particular dungeon's map. I just checked all the dungeons just now and it seems this only happens with level seven, eight, and nine. When I checked level one for this coordinate error I noticed something else, the little map didn't show on the sub-screen at the top when I got the map, which is kind of peculiar.
I went out looking for a new quest to play, and then I stumbled upon this: Labyrinth of Dinus (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/viewquest.php?q=273)
It seems like a simple quest so far, but I'm enjoying it nonetheless.

I'm not sure if you remember this area in the original game/Zero Quest, but if you go a little northeast of the first dungeon, there is a small desert area with leevers. I went about that area, then south to the foresty area and found a small cave with Abei. I went in with half a heart, pressing H to talk. Pressing too quickly, I press H AFTER he's done talking and I die. >.< When I hit continue, I was at A-1. I was wicked confused, and having trouble finding my way back. xD I might just restart and not die there. :f1:
But I'm working on my own game at the moment, and having a lot of fun. At first I was ready to quit because I didn't realize I hadn't made the wall tile non-walkable (pink settings).
The enemies that loaded invisible were mostly lynnels, though one map before an arrow had three falling rocks kind of invisible too. IDK why. I am using 2.10.
Edit: The invisible enemies can be done in any Zelda game, and not a glitch. There's an option under Screen Data. Yay me for figuring it out. :f3:

Labyrinth of Dinus reminds me of some of the ideas I had brewing for a game. The majority of the game takes place in one big dungeon that has many sub-dungeon parts. The different areas and the quest flows pretty well overall. You can visit some areas out of order too, it was a nice feeling of freedom to me.

Ohhhhh ok, I understand what happened now. You died inside of a cave and it took you to the top-left-most screen. I've never bothered to die inside of a cave, so I didn't know that could occur. I tried dying in a few caves in Zero Quest just now and it seems like the dying in a cave is supposed to take you to the starting area but that one in particular takes you somewhere you shouldn't be at. They probably forgot to set up that cave correctly.

I'm aware that the option is available, Zero Quest didn't have any invisible lynel or falling rocks when I played it though.
Just so everyone knows, there is an in-game option to take screenshots. You can open up the menu and go to Misc and the second-to-last option is Take Snapshot, alternatively, you can also take a screenshot by pressing F12 instead. If you run into anymore strange occurrences, be sure to take a screenshot.
