Issue/Problem/Bug: When the guardians face away, their knockback hitbox is massive. This appears to be because the knockback image is not centered.

Describe the problem. Be as specific as possible!: I come up behind a Qualm Guardian (or Oblivion, or Memory, both normal and Captain).
I attack it, with a skill that does enough damage to knockback.
The monster does touch damage to me, because it has an absolutely huuuuge damage box. Even though I'm not standing in a spot where it appears visibly, it still manages to hit me.
Since I'm a melee character, I have very limited range to work with, so if I'm mobbing, I get hit for 1300-1400 damage every time I attack the mob, even though they're stunned and I'm not standing on them when I attack.
The big KB is also a problem because if I use a faster weapon, it hasn't recoiled by the 2nd shot and that misses since it's KB'd so far away.

The blue lines represent the area where it can do touch damage to me. The green lines represent the part which I can hit (before it is KB'd). The arrow is just pointing out how the HP bar is ... way off. The orange ring is the effects from where I hit it, that is, the green line.

I think what happens is something like this
1) hit the monster
2) monster goes into "KB'd frame"
3) monster is turned to face the player
4) monster is pushed back slightly
5) monster goes back to "standing frame"
5) monster turns back to face the way it used to be facing
6) monster moves a little toward the player in recoil

Between step 2 and 3, even though it doesn't take any actual duration (I've never managed to SS it anyway) since the KB'd box is so uncentered, it moves towards the player, and thus manages to hit me, and then instantly rotates away. A fix would be to either change this sequence (so it faces the player before being in KB animation) or to centre the KB'd animation on its nametag, so it doesn't jump around as much.

I think it may be because the KB animation shows it alot farther back than it really is.

Can you really get hit if you're in range of the left blue line?

Yeah, its visible vs. touchable is extremely misleading ._.

I could swear that's not the case when the monster is facing you and you're KBing it. Though you'd still get touch damage if you go where it would normally be standing.

Approaching from behind and KBing it, I agree that's an issue.

Wow, I never noticed that before, but that's probably because as Buccaneer I can just rush for god mode. Do you suffer this problem when you use the warrior Rush on them?

I have no idea how long Buccaneer's rush god mode lasts, but for Warrior Rush, the god mode only lasts a few frames when you're actually traveling along the ground. Btw, the answer is "sometimes", usually when mobs get large xD

Ours lasts for a good 2 seconds. Long enough so that if i spammed CSB, i'd be invincible well into the 2nd cast.

Yes, because Rush only has invincibility while moving (it's enough to interrupt magic attacks if you time it right, but useless for touch damage). If I'm that close, I do get hit before I start moving (Rush is much longer ranged than ACB so I usually stay back before using it)

And like mentioned, on large mobs you arrive at the destination before mobs, and you can be touched by them then as well. For some reason, Rush moves the monsters 1 by 1, and if there are more than 3 (it hits up to 10-15) the last ones are moving after the player.

Yeah, this thing is very, very annoying as a marksman because they keep randomly turning around when frostprey hits to get into MB range =/

This has happened quite often on my Corsair as well. It's really annoying since it causes Battleship to take unnecessary damage.

i NEVER have problems with MB normally as an archer. time temple, however... fire 3's guards make me trigger the autokill on MB every 3 or 4 minutes. that's ridiculous, cause before i hit 140 i saw mortal blow five (5) times since i got the skill. it's not even maxed, 8% chance of autokill...

it slows down training so badly. i could probably get an extra 500k exp per hour if it was fixed due to lost attacking time.

*did not notice this on first pass through TT at all*

Monsters are almost always either facing me since I Air Strike or too far away for this to affect me. It's definitely less of a problem for sairs than other classes.

This might be why I was having trouble hitting the first Guardians with Gen, so much so that I quit after 500 kills. I'll pay more attention when I get the guts to go back and waste more pots on them.

It's hard to tell when I'm being pinballed by their HUGE magic attack range, though. :f7: (Don't think it's a glitch, it's just really, really annoying that they can attack you without even being on your screen.)

That's a problem. Also, why not use lightning charge at ice mobs? They're weak to that as well.

for the fire guardians, it's almost a shotgun effect - closer you are to the monster, better odds that magic sword thing will hit you. farther away, you might not even see one of the markers despite it attacking you.

I dont remember how the green and blue ones worked though lol.

The green ones seem to magic attack and KB me all the time when they aren't on my screen. It's certainly pretty constant even when they're just barely visible themselves, or even not there at all... You just see the "raining swordlike-things" animation and you get knocked away. I definitely don't notice them missing more when they're farther away... 'Course, I notice it more when they're farther away, because it's really annoying when they're out of Gen range. :f3: Their vertical magic attack range is huge, too; it goes at least 150 pixels above their heads IIRC.

I'm not at the blue or the fire ones yet. Mainly because I'm stuck on the green ones, lol.

shortest range of any tt monster i've seen is like 350 pixels. the fire ones basically cannot hit vertically unless one of the sword markers touches you while you're on a rope and the marker is on the plat below the rope =/
