I've seen some Bishops, mostly high leveled, that use Auto HP so that they can use Mana Bulls. My question is, why? Aren't Ginsengs/Ginger Ales cheaper if you're going to be using Mana Bulls + Unagi?

I think they put ginsengs/gingers on both, not bulls+unagi.

I saw this SS on Sw.net which made me wonder:

Roots/ales aren't very ultimate-spamming-friendly. If your hp is full, you're just using roots/ales to heal mp. They might as well use bulls since that's cheaper for mp-only healing.

For my archamage, I carry pizzas (900hp/600mp for 1k), bulls and roots. I usually run out of pizzas+bulls before I run out of roots lol. I don't use roots much before while using blizz, it's rare that BOTH my hp and mp dip below 60% to make roots worth using... plus, I'd rather not let my hp dip below ~80% because casting two blizz will put me into the 1hit ko zone =\

Roots do come into some sort of use if you were to genesis at newties. But honestly, I spam bulls more than i spam anything else. Roots only come in handy when you're standing there looting stuff, or when you're chatting, OR when eventually, the amount of hits you take lowers your hp enough to make you have to even it out. Unlike arch mages, we don't have the ability to make the nearby newties fuck off from attacking us. Hence the hp/mp dip that requires the use of a root or ale. However, this is if you prefer potting over healing yourself whenever ur hp dips.

If you don't mind me asking, you're a bishop yourself. How do you pot when you train? Seeing as how you don't use bulls. o.o Do you just neglect how much hp you have when using ales because it [near] guarantees survival?

Yeah that's basically it, though I use Ginsengs because:

- Mana Bulls don't heal HP which means I can't spam Genesis without having to Heal HP in between. I get hit quite often @ skeles despite being able to 2hko.

- For Ales, my MP has to be 25% or below (I HATE overpotting). In my experiences, if my MP is below 25% then I don't have enough HP to survive a Skele hit. Therefore I can't really spam Genesis. I only use Ales if I have HB since I can let my MP drop below 25% and not worry about being OHKO'd.

With Ginsengs I can just set my Auto MP to 60% alert and spam away with Genesis without worrying about dying. I've died a few times using Mana Bulls and a few times using Ales but I've NEVER died using Ginsengs.

I use ginsengs on both auto hp and mp. I guess it's pretty expensive but the amount of times I hear my friends complain about auto hp/mp failing, I like the added safety of having ginsengs on both...usually if one fails, the other works :f2:

I don't know about lower lvl bishops at skeles, (i was already 18x when leafre was released) but i will tell you the good news part. Once you can 1 hit them, regardless of what you did before, you will want to switch to manabulls and you wont need hp autopot. If you work the map correctly, they hardly hit you at all. I soloed almost all of my last 6 lvls, and even experimented w/o mg. Its easily doable, just annoying and required too much concentration.:excellent:

That said, when i was still training my icemage on the same acct with my bishop i did have an hpautopot that i used...its just an extra safeguard and i can see how it would help you from having to heal between gen casts. I always just put the unagi from skeles on the hp one.....if i ran out o wells.

I play a bishop and hence for me the cost for each mp from mana bulls is cheeper than the cost of each mp from ginger ales. And as a bishop the hp is usually just wasted anyway since I can heal. Hence I use mana bulls, and I only use ginger ales for back up (like I sudennely realize I'm gonna die and press one) or for bossing (very superior for 1-1s).

Personally I don't have a problem staying alive and using mana bulls. I just had a saftey charm expire on me and I don't know if I should be happy to have not died for so long or sad that I "wasted" nx on it.

And I don't use auto-hp either. I only use auto-mp. If I'm in a live or die situation I just push the button with an hp/mp pot on it. It certianally doesn't happen often enough to warrent the use of auto pot in my opinion.

I am a Bishop and YES I have auto hp &mp. I use Ginsengs on MP and Power Elixer on HP. I never have to buy Power Elixer since it drops from skeleton and after my training I always end up with more Power Elixer than when I started. I seriously dont know why people use manabull either. LoL Ginsengs are just cheaper for me so whenever i train i only have to buy ginsengs and my power are just always there from skeleton drops and pap drops. Plus i never have to heal. All i do is walk around and spam genesis all day and doesnt even have to worry about dying at all.

edit: I set my hp to about 40% and mp to about 50%.

edit: I always train with a hb mule.

hb mule + mana bulls = PROFIT XD

i usually carry 100 of those 1.5khp ramens which are my "emergency pots" when i am below 40% hp and in the middle of gen =p

other wise, using pots that heal hp+mp is a waste xD

1 2x card for me = 300-500 Ginger Ales & 800-1k Mana Bulls making each 4 hr training session cost me between 3,380,000 ~ 4,700,000 mesos (which isn't bad considering some of my friends use nothing but ginsengs when they train).

I don't like ginsengs @ my lvl b/c it doesn't heal enough.

Gingers are only used when I'm slacking and not paying attention otherwise I'll get 2-3 Gens in before using a Mana Bull and Heal when I have to.

Also you can store more Mana Bulls in one slot than Ginsengs and so although Ginsengs are cheaper I think in the long run it's better financially to use Mana Bulls.

And I don't use auto HP or MP and don't plan to anytime in the future (this includes bossing the most challenging of which is being the main seduce bishop in the HT group I co-organize...but I manage to live so it's not a necessity).
