Lol.
I just got into an argument with my friend because I am atheist.
No, not because I tried preaching my beliefs to her, but because I AM an atheist. She said she hated me because I didn't believe in a god. I told her there wasn't enough proof to prove any god to me, so I didn't believe. I told her it was fine she believed and I respected her religion.
But she wasn't done there. She managed to bash science, jews, gays, liberals, and my hair (seriously), before I altogether stopped talking to her.
Towards the end I managed to stick it to her by preaching to her things I remember from the Bible, but she said God wanted her to hate me.
I don't mind religion, but this is pineappleing ridiculous. Maybe I'll get a lovely burn mark in my lawn from the burning cross of love Jesus Christ is sending through her.
This sounds sudden and rather extreme. You sure she isn't just having personal issues and venting her frustration?

Like that's excusable at all. Anyway, you're normally better off without people like that.

We've had discussions about religion before. I never attacked Christianity directly to her...
I also doubt she was venting on me. She's currently on vacation in Tennessee and told me how fun it was 5 minutes earlier.

"God wants me to hate you"
I stopped there. First, the Christian God is all-loving (thought at times wrathful, which is not the same as hating). He/she/it would not want someone to hate someone else. Second, as said before, you're better off without people like that. If she's openly that hostile and claiming she hates you, then she is by no means your friend.

She told me I wasn't going into the kingdom of god, so I said she wasn't either because she didn't love her neighbour as herself. After that she flipped out and started spewing swear words all over the place.
It's terrible because we were like best friends. We really didn't have any problems before... Now I see her true colours.

I had a friend or two like this in high school - living in the Bible Belt in high school sucks for anyone who isn't a devout Christian. The minute you mention anything remotely close to "I'm not Christian" you lose a good portion of your friends, or at least alienate yourself from them. It's awkward...

When I lived in Florida I lived in a very nonreligious area. Here in Indiana it's from that.
Fortunately I live in a rich area, which means Jews. =)
Jews tolerate me. loool

Thus the hypocrisy of ignorant fktards comes to light.
I wonder if she even knows what it takes to get into the Kingdom of God.

Religion is to have Faith, and theirs plenty of proof that God exists. Just have to open your eyes and ask yourself this one question. Why am I here?

Don't start. Also, please take a closer look at the topic that has been stickied for quite some time:

It happens quite often that I'm going to post something and decide not to because it's too extreme, but I don't start talking about how I wanted to post something and ask people to pm me for me original post. I just click the southperry banner and continue browsing.

I did open my eyes, which is why I became an atheist. lol
That has nothing to do with the fact she flew over the handle on me. I don't care if she preaches a little as long as she isn't STRIKING DOWN UPON ME WITH GREAT VENGEANCE AND FURIOUS ANGER IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, BECAUSE I TRIED TO "POISON" HER BROTHERS.

I am a christian myself, and It really irks me when other christians behave like that towards atheists and agonistics (I have agnostic family members). I say you did the right thing by just walking away.
Sorry that happened to you, man :(

There is a difference between, say, the Catholic Church and the Westboro Baptist Church.
Both claim to be "Christian," but their ideas of religion are not really similar or even compatible.

But clearly there are some distinct differences between the two. Why not use the generic term minimifidianist. Having little or no faith. :poast:

or stick to the easy ones because that one just looks ridiculously hard to say
the defensive mechanisms aroused by the topic of religion have always fascinated me. simply mentioning something about ones beliefs in either direction automatically and irrevocably change the way others view each other.
even so, that is pretty messed up. no one should have to suffer such simply for believing one way as opposed to another.
one thing to note too is that no matter what subject you are talking about, the people talking the loudest usually know the least.
