Hello Southperry. I am a noob, so I shoot at bone fish when they make themselves immune to physical damage. Normally, this happens:

Amazing, mirite?

However, sometimes I am just so amazing that I actually do more than one damage on each arrow, as shown here:

or

or

(In the back, I don't have very quick reactions I guess.)

I think it's pretty weird. I've only seen one or two arrows at a time do more than one damage, and when two arrows do damage they always do the same amount of damage. I am sure someone here knows why this is. Care to share?

Edit = Oh yeah, and it also happens with goby houses I think, so I guess this applies to everything that can make itself immune to physical damage?

There's always a slight chance you can hit more than 1 on a monster immune to physical. For example, any CPQ monster can be "upgraded" using CP to a form where it is immune to weapon attack, and usually ever 2 or so savage blows, I get one number above 1. So, it's normal.

I understand that it's normal (I see it happen a lot), but it doesn't look like it's supposed to be that way. If they just coded it so that it was x% chance of doing normal damage to something that was immune to physical, the damage wouldn't be the same on both arrows when two arrows do normal damage. They would be independent of each other. Also, it would be possible to do normal damage on 3 or 4 of my arrows, and I've never seen that either. (Of course, it's possible that that could happen and I just haven't seen it because the probability would be (small chance)^3 or (small chance)^4, but w/e.)

Also, just saying it's normal doesn't tell me why it happens, unless you're proposing that they coded it that way on purpose. :)

Does the Bone Fish's hp bar fall when you hit it in Weapon Cancel? It's possible that you're not really hitting more than one damage, and it's just your client rolling a wild number that displays instead of 1.

I've noticed this as well, it didnt start doing this until recently either. Of course i'm not complaining tho lol. It makes it alot nicer when the bonefish or gobis house has barely an HP left, does physical immune up, and you can still kiill it =D.

its actually that damage.

Yeah, I assume that it is actually that damage because they die a lot more often when it says I do more than one damage.

I think it's a new bug/glitch because when I trained at gobies a long time ago it never happened o_O

Yeah, I can confirm that. I trained 100-133 at Gobies (before 4th job came out) and it didn't happen once.

I don't really understand how that explains it. Care to elaborate? It's also not like some of the arrows hit while it's immune and some of them don't (I don't think that's even possible), because most of the time when I do damage it is not the first shot after they have become immune or the last shot before they stop being immune.

The other weird thing bone fish do is if they have more than half of their hp left, sometimes they make like they're going to make themselves immune to something and then just stop moving. They start moving again if they get knocked back or if someone else comes into the map (this only happens if you're soloing). Anyone know why that happens?

This has been happening for quite a long time, I think ever since Aqua was out. I tried to replicate it for quite a while on my CB from 100 - 120, but never really found anything definitive out. I remember it happening quite a lot if I had Haste on and would quickly SB a Bone Fish and then go up really fast

your dealing critical damage, doesnt that tell you anything?

Look in the very last pic. The 1262 isn't a critical.

Yeah, I feel like it seems to happen more if I float down in front of one, shoot, and then jump up again. But it doesn't always happen when I do that, so I don't know for sure. Maybe it happens more if you're doing a bunch of stuff at the same time? But then it also happens when I'm just standing there, so I don't really know.

Yeah I know. Pretty cool IMO, lets you finish a goby house in a small chance. This is obviously because of patch 58 because I've been at gobies every day before then. It happens at Zakum too. Weird thing is, If theres more than 2 crits they will always be the same number. It's a glitch for sure.

o_o

That's odd indeed.
It's not a bad thing though, I guess
