49% In History final...... After studying so much..... After all the money my parents threw on me for private teachers..... It's like stabbing them in the back
I hate letting my parents down. They're not "mad", but I'm sure they're really dissapointed. I don't know what's my f`ucking problem. People with lower IQ than me get better grades in History/Bible/Hebrew, all those stuff that require mass wall of texts. I'm doing OKAY in architectual/math/english/music studys, but oh boy, my final diploma is gonna suck hard.
I feel the same, bro. Except it wasn't the finals, and I didn't have private teachers X_X.
History takes waaaaaaaay too much memorizing.

o-O; History is easy as balls, to me at least. I've never "memorized" anything for any history class I've ever taken ~_~. You just need to let it come to you naturally :D.
Math on the other hand, that takes memorization :f7:

Any "fact" based course with little to no problem solving is pure memorization, and, to me, a waste of time (unless the knowledge being learned is extremely important for job branch, IE med school. History is important for the lessons you learn from it, not specifically knowing who did what in what year, so to me, the way we teach it in today's society is worthless. Math, at least, is problem solving, assuming you are given the formulas (which you really should be, there's no reason to memorize formulas when being able to spit them out =/= being able to use them correctly). Personally, give me the formula, I can use it. Ask me for it...not gonna happen.
Maybe you're just more of a problem-solving person than a memorization person. Don't try to go to med school (gg learning every muscle, tendon, bone, vein, etc)?

This. Also, don't become a chemistry major like me. I'm this kind of person, and it's not that chem is about memorization, but all the freakin pre-meds who take chem courses whine and beg until the teachers teach to the memorization. :f7: It gets better as you get to the higher levels, though.
Become a mathematician or engineer. :chin:
Chin up, not everyone is "well-rounded" in the way they think. You can bounce back from it. Heck, Einstein was bad at history.

Indeed. I chose Intel Analysis as my job in the Navy because it suits me - I'm a problem-solving, analyzing type of person, not a memorizing, encyclopedic type of person. I don't have an answer to everything, but I'll damn well find one or come up with something to work around it. I can't do anything with specific facts and figures, but give me general knowledge that requires a general solution, and I'm your man :D
Most people also enjoy much more the subjects that suit their learning style, partly because they absorb them more easily and don't have a base of frustration built up around it. Do your best to get past it, and don't let it distract you from the subjects you really care about.
I'm gonna be a musician. Learning at the music academy requires a final that has an average of 80. 49 in History isn't gonna help me get to that grade.

I see...You said that pouring hours and money into history didn't help, so instead use the time and effort to really excel in something else. If you can't bring History up, minimize its impact by greatly improving what you are good at. It still sucks to have that 49%, but if you can pull up your average with a bunch of 90+s, assuming a load of 6 classes, you can end up with an 83% average. Maybe ask your professor after normal hours what s/he recommends based on your situation, or if there is an alternate project you can do that more suits your learning style for some extra credit. May not work with all professors, but some will see the effort as a good quality and be happy to do what they can to help you. Hoping your professor is the latter.

Math teachers who just throws formulas at students, have them memorize it and tell them to just plug variables in needs to be shot.

See above puceness. I agree wholeheartedly, formula memorization = mathmaking.

Memorizing formulas in math? For practical mathematics, I call complete BS. Even with Calculus, if I needed to find the integration of cosecant-type formula (F / sqrt(a^2 + x^2) or some nonsense), I just use my pro-ness to figure out what the formula is again. Yes, even in the middle of the test.

History is by far the hardest subject for me too. Barely scraped a B+ this year (I'm usually a straight A student :f7:)
