Dear Fellow Pure Polearmers and MapleStory Community,

Welcome to the revamped Pure Polearm Rollcall brought to you by Mintrified, which is now updated by TenKayPlusHP. This thread is dedicated to all the dedicated and determined pure polearmers of MapleStory and reminding each and everyone of you to never give up, no matter how hard the road to a Pure Polearm Dark Knight is. The thread's main focus is on Global MapleStory, however if you play other versions, you are more than welcomed to submit your name on to the rollcall. In this newer version of the rollcall, you will find a lot of useful and insightful links, screenshots, bi-weekly featured pure polearmer, and more so we can get to know our community better and stand in solidarity, dedication, and determination. I hope this thread will suit your polearm needs but keep in mind, the roll call will never be completely perfect but I will try my best. DvineDragoon is the first pure polearmer to reach level 120.
TheXLaw is the first pure polearmer to reach level 140, and 150.
Unholy owns the first Zedbug.
Mintrified owns the first Beheader (Unholy has asked numerous times to buy it off of her).
Jarski is the strongest pure polearmer for his level.

You must be a pure polearmer, that means no half and half (hybrid), and no spears. I know some people may identify as a polearm user even though they are hybrid, but the roll call is only for pure polearms. However, even if you are not a pure polearmer, you are more than welcomed to hang out with our awesome community.

Not feeling so hot about my PA DK (Cult, which btw is in the guild Rock), it seems like Berserk really favours crusher :/ I still like Polearms, but I'm not that likely to train past 11x until new mobs are released.

It's still far superior to my Paladin at bosses though, lol...

Oh & Cult is female, even though the gear it's wearing pretty much looks male :x

The HB mule for my guild, which I levelled for the most part, is a pure polearm :D

Wow, the poll results are rather dissappointing atm. >.>

I need some advice. o_o At skeles, would it be best to stay with a red surfboard or use a slower polearm like zedbug or hellslayer with more attack and hope you kill them in less hits? There aren't any well scrolled red surfboards for sale in mardia atm and you can't transfer red surfboards between servers with mts, so I'm thinking about settling with a shiny zedbug even though it's slower. I don't want to end up killing them even slower though because of the speed, so idk. o_O

ooo, also I'm no longer the only active pa drk in mardia. :D SihingDJ has lvled a few times lately. :o

and i was the one who tested that with a pretty godly scrolled eclipse back then borrowed by a friend (lucha5, from sw forum), i was training @ a very high speed rate, alot faster than my old red sb (which had higher atk overall)

so, i vote for speed....speaking of votes...yeah...it's rather depressing..5 ppl that are polearm are going hybrid

we need ppl from sw forum >_<
since it's kinda hard to link from sw forum, i think made my way of getting here lol

just not sure if everyone is clicking it :f1:

Yeah, I've always preferred faster weapons, but the problem is that there's none for sale in mardia atm and you can't put red surfboards in mts to transfer from other servers. x___x Also, if the slower weapon has so much of a higher attack that you kill monsters in less hits, then it's actually killing faster than the surfboard that's one speed higher. I guess it's different as a dragon knight since you're taking 6+ hits to kill himes, but with berserk that number is pretty much cut in half. The stronger the polearm, the higher the chance of killing in one hit less than you normally would, and the less chance you'll get blasted by a skele. D: I'm not dexless (yet) and have yet to pass berserk 30, so it still takes awhile to kill skeles and I burn a ton of pots there.

I mean, the surfboard I'm using atm is pretty bad. x___x I have enough to upgrade to a much stronger polearm around 125+, the problem is that there's just none for sale in mardia and I don't want to try to scroll my own when I can get a prescrolled zedbug for much cheaper in another server and transfer it to mardia via mts. Although if red surfboards were allowed in mts then of course I'd prefer that. :P Until then...

And yeah, there's a lot more hybrids than other DKs in general, but the poll is asking if people who are already pure PA are actually planning on spending so much nx to convert to hybrid. I didn't think there would be so many to vote changing to hybrid. :f6: Most of the pure PAers who I have met have pride in the class and being unique rather than just being all about damage. Oh well.

this is just the exact thread from sw forum's rollcall, just the more updated one

i saw in mintrified's textes in "quoting" that had many things centered
so, i copied hers and then COMPLETELY changed them all, and then re-organized it by the exact order..then i changed it up a bit in terms of organizing..

oh..and sorry about no updates lol, i just beat "Tales of Legendia" not too long ago..(and it's pretty late i must say lol)

Probably gonna train more slack less... did 33% so far today, and 30% yesterday.

Need 5 more SP for Berserk 21-30 , 5 saved atm (HP Washing is PRICY lol); 10 more for Stance 21-30, gonna take me upto 161 or so. :f3:

gonna be updating list later, too lazy atm, and it's almost lunch time

Not to mention, if you stand on the steps right above the bottom platform, you can fury there and not get hit AT ALL. o_o The only problem is seal, but i wont mind spamming all cures instead of pots. Much cheaper. :P

Now to find out if they actually released the purple surfboard this patch. If they did, I will <3 Nexon forever. :D

Grats. :D It'll be awhile before I get to try another berserk 30 after failing my first. ._. *pokes horntail to be more generous with berserk 30s* :f3:

Passed Zerk 30 today, and had my Arcglaive since Nov 3rd...running out of goals dammit! One of the highest pure PA in Bello to boot, and have ALWAYS been in Bello *coughs at immigrant rank whores*

Brawlers excel at fighting a single target or small mob, given that they have time to prep beforehand and that they are stunnable.
Slingers excel when they have a good sniping spot against small mobs (invisible shot has a large hit box)

No idea for 3rd+

yes indeedy (they also auto-aggro, so they cluster near the ladder-mule, making for easy mobbing).

55%, should hit 136 tomorrow if I can get some good training in with Daniel.

Also, curious what everyone here (Pure PAs) think about a Zakum solo at lv 160. The arms would probably go pretty fast, but the body...I have trouble imagining how long that could take...non-appled, I take down Pap in about an hour (so appled should be appx 30mins). That's 30mins per 30m HP, or 1m a minute. Assuming arms take an hour and a half, the body would be something like another 3-4? (I'm also roughing this based on stat increase, etc, between now and lv 160). I use a DPS polearm vice a raw-damage one if that helps. Also assuming zerking the entire time, with maxed stance and MW19.

I use a 114 Arcglaive, 10 attk Naric, 3attk 9Str Taru. 9 attk dark emperor. So 138. So 238 with apple. (note that this is DPS gear, I don't have a "raw damage" weapon).

Also, OT, 76% and expecting to level today (I'll hime if I have to to get the job done. God I hate those pink-robed monstrosities...)

At Solid's question, Crimson Guardians now have a larger hitbox, meaning formerly safe sniping spots result in them smacking you any time they get kb'd in your direction. It is possible to zerk them at range, but the risk of one spawning on you is pretty high. Seal + managing zerk range Hp = difficulty. It is possible still, just a lot more effort, and lag will destroy you.

I probably could, but I don't feel like dealing with the drama, ks'rs, and time consuming nature of it. Papulatus is way more fun, convenient, and has better drops to boot. I imagine the best thing to do is just spam fury like any other boss, but you'd have to have your weapon speed match his hitbox frames, otherwise you'd hit the air a lot.

yea weird things happen at bf when i try to kill it. rush misses and like bf gets pulled towards me and fury misses 2/3 times. i think this boss is anti polearm

I used to train on bigfoot during my early 16x levels when I got bored of crimson guardians. Of course, bigfoot has changed a bit since then, but the general strategy is about the same. You can't just hold down polearm fury or the attack will miss. If you get the timing down, you can keep bigfoot pinned in the corner as long as no one else comes and tries to kill it as well. Re-buffing can be a problem sometimes since bigfoot is much faster than he used to be.

Compared to crusher, polearm fury is actually much safer to kill bigfoot with because of the range. But of course the fact that fury is a weaker attack will lead to much slower kill times than a spear user. Since you can't spam crusher or fury on bigfoot, the fact that fury is a faster attack gives no advantage to the fury user.

I tried to kill a bf tonight to help leech a friend of mine's new character (his 15x nl was hacked >.>). My computer was being lame though, so I lagged... and died a few times. :P It's much slower compared to how it used to be. With the old bf, you could do two furies before you had to pause a bit and attack again to keep him pinned without missing. Now you can only hit him once, pause, hit again, pause... blah. :P Such a waste of time now. ._.

Try different speed Polearms. Someone I know can keep BigFoot pinned on the wall by using a normal speed spear and crusher.

You can keep bf pinned with any speed polearm/spear with the right timing. The thing is you can't hit him more than once before you need to pause before attacking him again. I've tested polearms from the gold surfboard (fast something) up to an unboosted eviscerator with polearm crusher to see if I could just hold down the button to keep him pinned, but you still need to pause between attacks regardless.

I only died because of lag from an overheating laptop. I can kill bf and pin him perfectly fine otherwise.

Eclipse is slow (7), same speed as Red Surfboards, so they're worthwhile. Arcglaives, Karstans, and Maple Snowboards are going to be more worthwhile investments.

I tried out the Eclispse once and still didn't like it's speed, I dislike most slow speed Polearms when it comes to training.

Maple Snowboards not so much unless you already have one pre-scrolled since a bunch of them were broken and there has yet to be an event to bring them back yet.

You havent taught me everything I know. :f2: but yeah Im lv 140 now and training basically consists of doing the cassandra quests. 150k every hour for no work is pretty good. And as soon as I pass serk30 I'll be passing you pretty quick so watch out :f5:

And your surfboard is pretty godly so why not keep it:excellent:

btw zedbugs are good at our lvl (16x+) its decent speed, eclipses and boards dont help much. unless you make a godly eclipse. but anyway

i scrolled 17 zedbugs today

the bests were
125 1 slot <Boom>
123 1slot <boom>
122 1 slot <boom>
119 2 slot made to 121 to boom
114 3 slot got to 119 then boomed

the quest to make a 130+ zedbug continues

The only time I would use a DPH weapon over a DPS is when
-It means the difference between 4hitting and 3 hitting skeles
-Difference between 3hitting and 2hitting skeles
-Difference between 5hitting and 4hitting Guardian Captains of Oblivion
etc.

Otherwise, I'll stick with my Arcglaive, tyvm. I plan on making a 130+ Reverse PA when we get Maker/TT, which will be my DPH weapon. And lol Tyler, not gonna let that happen just yet, I plan for 149 this weekend. Catch me if you can!

If you gave me an option of a slow speed weapon with 200 attack or a fast speed weapon with 150 attack I would take the fast one in a heart beat and throw away the shitty slow speed in the dump where it belongs.

I meant with the right speed Polearm you can hold down the attack button and hit him each time.

Did you happened to try without booster? Because a Dark Knight in Bellocan uses a normal speed spear with crusher and can hit Bigfoot each time holding down the attack key without booster. Should work the same with a normal speed polearm + crusher.

I don't know what it would take with fury though.

Are you sure that this is after the latest bf update? :goggle: I know that was possible before with normal speed spears and crusher or something, but now it isn't.

And yeah, all tests were with and without booster, so all speeds were covered unless fast 1 and fast 2 are different (too lazy to check the weapon speeds thread), but that would require SI unless there's some fast 3 pa out there.

Edit: Seems like faster (1) doesn't exist. :P So yeah, all speeds were tested.

Yeah, my bad. X_x Like I mentioned, I haven't been on the computer for awhile, much less thinking about ms. I was thinking that fast speed was 4 and normal was 5, etc, but obviously that isn't right.

Oh, and I think the top 10 should probably be updated - a 160 making 10th seems off to me, I seem to remember a lot more 17x and 18x people. I may be wrong though. I can go through and look to confirm though.

Hmm.. I was aiming for reaching the top 10 for Scania, and upon checking those who are active, i'm #7, but #13 with the retired pa's that are higher than me... so I still have work to do! Aiming to be in the top 5 eventually, 132 currently.

To note, average exp gain for me is 9-10m an hour at 161, or just shy of 5% an hour. Roughly 1300 kills an hour.

Scary thought... I haven't spent any SP on my Dragon Knight in over two years.

I hit level 92 in early '08 and maxed Roar (after 4th came out and PPAs got nothing), I still haven't decided whether to go hybrid so I'm not spending anything.

I guess if I keep leveling up eventually I'll have to decide. :\ Just recently hit 3 digits, and coincidentally did 10k Fury on Typhons for the first time. (well not so much, I got about +30 str)

Well, pretty much a lot of SPs quit for DFO and PADrKs are rare as f'uck now. In a game where Bishops, Heroes, Arans, NLs and BMs are taking over :/

Cult's not pure polearm anymore, I had about 70 SP itchy in my skill window and I decided Spear Crusher is more useful than Sacrifice + PA Crusher.

If the high level polearms weren't all slow as hell I would have probably taken it under further consideration, but I can't even afford a good Arcglaive now.

according to the new patch everything is getting merged.
so nexon is giving us good stats but screwing it up.

Yeah. =/ I have mixed feelings about it, but I suppose the good outweighs the bad overall. There is no sense of community anymore with the pure PAers in mardia anymore, since they almost all quit their drks or convert to hybrid. When the change comes, I might actually start leveling my DrK again. Of course I'll just be another normal drk, which will be kinda boring and unmotivating. -.-

If you think what skills you have your points in is what makes you a Pure Polearmer than you weren't a true one to begin with. It doesn't matter what skills you have your points in as long as you always use nothing but Polearms.

the only way i can think of that gets rid of "Pure Polearm users" is if they're removing those polearm skills

They're making warrior skills enabled for both weapons...(same goes for Heroes and Paladins)

No more "Spear Mastery" and "Pole Arm Mastery" but just "Weapon Mastery"... same goes for Final Attack, Booster, Crusher, and DFury....

Those of us who are pure pole before this change arrives... I guess we have credit in that... taking a path looked down on by many for ages

Purple Surfboard has always been beyond super rare.

Fury is still a Polearm skill.

If by changes, you're refering to Dark Knights, then there was not much change except for a "smarter" Eye of Beholder. :f6:

Related: I have a PA Swordsman in line as a Spearman. Though, it might not be for awhile until I decide to train it.

Not sure if she posted in this thread at all or if she was even mentioned but my guildie, Sheila, IGN GeneYuss is a level 97 Pure PA DK. She's an immigrant from Broa, currently in Windia and while she's a girl, her character is a dude. :B

That condition isn't going to work well or at all anymore lol.

Seems like they removed the penalties for Spear swing and Pole Arm stab...
... Both Spear and Pole Arm are going to end up the same damage, just a matter of who has better equips.

He's using a spear yes, but if you notice the swing damage on PS and SB, they seem to be the same as stab damage. I highly doubt they'd remove spear swing penalty and not pole arm stab penalty.

.... my polearm crusher dmg hits 21k max potentially *3 if that ever happened.

Also, are you listing players' genders according to their character? GeneYuss is a girl playing a guy character, though you have her listed as male.
