Here's my post from the other topic:

alright, the 222 patch was uploaded and this one contains skill strings.

It seems that this new class uses a sort of combo system to boost attack. This isn't combo like crusaders; it's something different entirely. This is like Street Fighter combos where certain keypresses cause you to do different moves, and different keypresses at certain times during a move causes different actions. Furthermore, the class gets boosts by chaining different skills together - so you get a WDEF and MDEF boost for chaining 10 attacks together within a specified time and such. Also, in order to perform certain attacks your combo counter (think Energy Charge for infighters) must be at a certain level.

So, as can be easily seen, the +3 booster is necessary in order to perform the best combo attacks.

Also, this class is a VERY MOB-ORIENTED class!

If anyone can offer better translations than mine, please do!

This class is extremely similar to all of the other beginner classes, so I'm not going to bother with this.

Skill Name: 폴암 콤보 (Polearm Combo)
Required: Level 10 Double Attack)

Not sure on the skill level translation, but here's what the string looks like:

콤보 카운트 10마다 공격력 1, 물리방어력과 5, 마법방어력 5 만큼 최대 1회 증가

It only increases WDEF/MDEF as the level increases (according to the skill string anyway, it might be entirely different in game)

Note: I do not know if the probability here relates to the probability of damaging the enemy mob or if it's the probability of stunning. I feel pretty confident it's for stunning, though. Also, level 20 is bugged for the probability.

Example skill string: MP 50 소비, 지속시간 10초, 바디 어택 데미지 5%

Note: Since the skill description is a bit vague, let me try to guess what this skill does. Every time you increase the combo counter, you have a 10% chance of the skill effect happening to you. The skill effect can stack on itself up to five times. So, this means that for level 1, you can have up to a maximum of 5% probability for crit for +5% damage. At max level, the maximum possible effect you can ever have is 50% probability to crit for +50% damage. Although the skill icon for this skill is the same icon for sharp eyes, this is not a party skill.

For this thread, I'm not going to bother uploading any skill images or bother with fancy [table]'s. It's obvious to me that they will be changing many of them before its release. My purpose here is to get some of these strings translated so you guys have a better idea about what this class is all about. I'll be updating this thread throughout the day.

Whoa, that's cool. This is... kind of what I've been wanting. Too bad they didn't do this idea with Infighters, though. =/

So I imagine getting 1 point in each skill asap may actually be useful?

So I imagine getting 1 point in each skill asap may actually be useful?

No. That would be incredibly detrimental. You'll see why once I start posting the strings.

By the way... one of the skill strings just blew me away and left me completely stunned. "Deal 2400% damage to boss monsters". Yeah, no typo there. It's really 2400%.

Yes, after HP increase, of course. :P

This class does not get an HP increase skill - at least not that I've noticed after looking through all the skills.

There's an icon for it, though it may just be a place-holder. I thought I remember someone saying something about them having HP Increase like the warrior class, though.

No. That would be incredibly detrimental. You'll see why once I start posting the strings.

By the way... one of the skill strings just blew me away and left me completely stunned. "Deal 2400% damage to boss monsters". Yeah, no typo there. It's really 2400%.

So, if I had a stat build similar to my DrK, that's 2400% of around 5k damage at 13x. That's well over 100,000 damage O.o
Yay for polearms breaking into 6 digits!

Well, I'm sure you'll have to perform some type of long ass combo to be able to perform that technique. Anything that powerful isn't going to be easily used. It'll probably be a 10 skill combo, then use that skill to finish off the combo or something.

Ahran sounds like something from the Ariant Desert or something. I hope they add a whole new area and not just a Maple Island V2.0 like Ereb. They sure are mixing up the gameplay a lot lately. So many years without change and then since pirates so much.

It'd be interesting if it was from different parts of the already known Maple World...

Imagine Polearmers from El Nath.
Gunners from Magatia (Alcadno).
Wizards from Magatia (Jenumist).
Punchers from Mu Lung.
Archers from Leafre.
Thiefs from Ariant.
Warriors from Time Temple.

If it was like this, it'd definately be a must.

I would laugh really hard if these guys were the ones that died the most during intense boss fights due to needing to do multi-key input to use their skills. But I suppose that's nothing CS can't fix.

Seems like a great class for anyone with jittery fingers. Like me!

My speculation is that Full Swing and Over Swing just boost Double Swing and Triple Swing's damage passively, like how Burst Fire is a passive boost to Double Fire for Outlaws.

Alternatively, it could be a buff if it is listed as an active skill as opposed to a passive, you don't seem to have that listed.

However, the damage% listed does seem to differ from an effectiveness standpoint; it makes sense for Full Swing's Triple Swing Bonus, but it appears that Double Swing is lowered, but twice. Possibly, it would allow for a double hit attack during Double Swing, as opposed to a single strike.

The character mechanics appear to be that combos occur during the attack animation if you press the attack button.
ex: Max Double Attack = A
Press A; One attack, 160%.
Press A, and press A while in Double Attack animation, two attacks occur successively, 160% each, in a way that would be faster and more efficient than just two unchained Double Attacks.
Accordingly, Full Swing could possibly divide the Double Attack swings into two hits:
Press A; Two hits, 90% each, which would total to higher than the original 160% at max, making it a beneficial boost.
Full chain would be Two Double Attacks in quick succession, equaling 90%x4.
By dividing the attack into more multiple hits, it allows for a greater representation of a "Combo chain", and promotes damage with Critical Combo.

Similar to how Buster for Dragon Knights gains differing hits according to level, some not being as efficient nor powerful as the previous, this would create a more "difficult" or complex skill build to consider. At first, Full Swing would be detrimental towards attacking with Double Attack (provided it's a passive boost), but it contributes towards your Triple Swing regardless. Consequently, the same occurs for Over Swing, where Triple Swing's constituent combo attacks are broken down into double hits.

Is there any information in there about Stun Length as well?

It looks like Double Attack and Triple Attack are skills that modify the normal attack into a combo. This class doesn't get a standard spamming attack move like Power Strike, and seems to rely on using normal attacks into 4th job.

This is how I'm interpreting it:

You press your standard attack button: your character attacks.

You press Double Attack while attacking: your character uses MP and quickly launches into a mobbing attack without any delay. With Full Swing, the animation changes into a 2-hit attack instead. I'm guessing it converts your normal Double Attack into an up slash and a down slash, kind of like Brandish.

You press Triple attack while using Double Attack: your character uses more MP and combos into a third mob attack . With Full Swing, the damage on this increases. With Over Swing, this turns into a second, stronger, up slash down slash attack.

Kind of like a controllable Final Attack, or Marth's forward B in SSBM, I guess.

Edit: With the addition of Polearm Push in 2nd job, large max mobs on each skill, freezing capability in 3rd job, and the ability to KB just about everything and keep pushing it, this class looks like it'll train best at big, super mobby, flat maps like Magatia mobs and Himes. It'll probably be a constant spam of Attack -> Double -> Triple -> Rush, piling up gigantic mobs, and occasionally using one of the finishers.

Oh wow. Think it'll be a continuous string of attacks where you can alternate or does normal attack have to string into double -> triple etc every single time?

Oh wow. Think it'll be a continuous string of attacks where you can alternate or does normal attack have to string into double -> triple etc every single time?

It'd probably make more sense if Triple could link back into Double, because normal attacks suck and would disrupt the entire combo chain, unless for some reason the normal attacks also hit 6 mobs. I'm totally speculating along with everyone else, though, we'll have to see.

Woah. Wierd. Fiel put this as stun, but the translation of the above is..
Tosses up to 6 mobs in front of you. Monsters lifted into the air will recieve additional damage. Only usable right after triple attack.

Attack six enemies. If the enemy is in stun status, deal additional damage. Can only be used after Triple Attack. Skill Required: Level 20 Triple Attack. [To use: press ↑ + attack key])
Note: Although the skill effect has ice appearing in it, this attack is element neutral. Of course, they probably forgot to put in elemental properties yet.

Transforms mobs into a "iced" status. Mobs under this status will die even with a tiny hit. For bosses, deals great ice damage. Useable only after 300 combos.
Requires: Phantom Blade level 10

Example skill string: 보스 몬스터에게 데미지 300%, 얼음화 지속시간 10초
300% damage to bosses, 10seconds of "iced" status.
-> this is for skill lvl 1, I think. so this will have 2400% boss monster damage in the end,

That's about it.

This seems super impractical for MS imo.

I feel like I'd waste potions trying to combo attacks just because I'm mashing buttons.

Sounds like everything is a passive skill activated off of the attack key (aside from buffs). Also really liking that Aegis Shield buff - that + Achilles + PG + HB = Ubertanks.

Wow, these guys have some really awesome attacks. But I'm a little confused on how the combo works. Do you press the red 'attack' key after pressing the combo buttons or press a key with the actual skill on it? Because the previous would be so badass.

I thought Ahran --> Aryan too. Actually, that was my first thought when I read the name of the class.

Thank you, Serendipity, for the translations. I'll incorporate them.

Also, that one attack is NOT 2380%. That means Spadow just copypasta'd the skill strings and didn't bother looking at the skill data.

Oh, and I have a question about the combos. Do they increase by a set number for each attack, or does it just go up by 1 for each hit? And after the combos are at like 100~300, after you use the skill do they get used up too?

Not necessarily. The Aryans were supposed to be a super intelligent super athletic godmode fantasy of Hitler. With a superior gene pool. They were supposed to be flawless. Unfortunately Hitler failed.

I think this relates to nexons idea in the terms that this pole army using race will be the perfect class; great at hitting mobs, doing uber boss damage.

Maple Story meets Audition loz...
They finally made a buff that increases weapon deffense. I expected they gave it to paladins so they could get into parties easier, but oh well.

I hope double attack and triple attack have different animations for every hit, so they actually look like attack combos.

Since they have a 4th job advancement, do you think they will be tied to Adventurers or Cygnus in any way?

its going to be modifeid no matter what, You cant just release a class without making it balanced for the rest of the people already with high lvl chars.

Also, any word on what the stats required will be? Im guessing it will be either STR main and INT+DEX secondary. Unless the moves rely on a magic ACC formula, in which STR+INT will work alone.

Why so negative? It's barely just one class of the Ahran race. There can still be many, with Guns, Crossbows, Axes, Maces, Daggers, etc.

I remember when the Striker was beginning, everyone thought it was going to be a 3rd branch of the Pirate class, that summoned stuff and was going to use a weapon that was not yet in game.

Well, if this class is another balanced character that is good for both bossing and training, then they're obligated to release a class that rapes single targets and one that raped mobs.

If it's the whole "underrated weapon" thing for the whole race, i'm interested in what they'll do with pirates. They already used knuckles, and i don't see how they could make another gunslinger that rapes everyone in damage even more.

Adventurers

Looking for all freedom seekers, enjoy the time you are an Adventurer!
Travelers and drifters have suddenly appeared. (?)
Without any special purpose, the classic Maple jobs are for those who want to enjoy the world.
Through the former version, you can switch jobs and your career can be different.
They are incomplete and have a weak start.
The more you repeat the adventure, you will become more grown out of it.

Growth Rate, 2 stars
Potential, 2 stars
Freedom, 3 stars
Difficulty, 2 stars
Maximum Level 200

Knights of Cygnus

Empress of the angels! Come fight against the Black Wizard!
This is an elite group of warriors for Empress Cygnus.
They were born to protect the men from the Maple World from the Black Wizard.
Because they have special skills and articles, rapid growth is possible.
Their level growth is relatively low.
At the same levels, they are more powerful than anyone else.

Growth Rate, 3 stars
Potential, 1 star
Freedom, 2 stars
Difficulty, 1 star
Maximum Level, 120

We're probably looking at
Growth Rate, **
Potential, ***
Freedom, **
Difficulty, ***
Maximum Level, 200

For Ahran.
Their skills seem to all be important, but they don't have enough points to max everything, and the keycombo + Combo Count increases the Difficulty of control. However, their Potential to be stronger than Adventurers is higher due to this, with a Fourth Job as well. Their Growth Rates likely won't be low, probably the normal 5 AP a level since their level cap is higher. Freedom would be ranked the same as a Cygnus as there is only one job per class, though this could change in the future.

Combo point system is win. It made playing a rogue or feral druid very intensive. It rewards you for attacking by letting you build up to a finisher, but it also makes you use up those combo points so you maximize damage. While Buccaneers are cooldown dependent (like tanking Death Knights who have a huge range of cooldowns to juggle) which means to stick in as many attacks as possible for more DPS, this new race/class will be more dependent on making sure nothing gets wasted (ie Rogues/Cat druids) as I'm sure the "combo" points will peak, meaning doing additional attacks while the person that has max combo points/level will be doing less damage than one who at least dumps his combo points for one of his finisher type moves.

The topic. We seem to be getting off of it.

I can see this class being either really difficult or really fun to train. It seems a lot harder to zone out when you have to focus that much. I am glad that we understand how this class works better. There had to be a catch with the kind of mobbing damage they have. All that really remains to be seen now is how hard it is to build and maintain a combo, and how much damage they do once they're done tweaking the skills.

I assume it would be more buff orientated.

You have to combo buffs together to unlock spells, which either do more damage or buff you + your other buffs.

Or they could do it like Invoker in Dota, where you use spells in a certain arrangement to get better spells.

Anyone else thinks Nexon is trying to make use of all the types of weapon in the game? I mean, Cygnus classes only have one option of a weapon. Think they're trying to utilize them all?

I think so. :D

Do want

There's no mention if Aegis Shield implies the class uses a shield or not. If a class has a skill with "Shield" in it, I would expect the class to equip shields as a normal part of their fighting style. But on the other hand I could be looking into it too much. However, short spears (new weapon) or equipping a spear/polearm in one arm would be hot. Can't stop thinking of a Spartan solider.

Imagine an Earth-type marksman than, when uses AE, causes a continuous burst of arrows from the ground that does damage over time. I think that for the MM, though, they would have a type of skill that instead of pushing the monsters away, you slide backwards. After that, you perform a shot in the air and ride on it, in time to crash in the ground and kill everything.....

Too much to hope for, eh?

The point is it doesn't have to be a requirement, but at least make it an option for the new class to be able to equip shields. Mages are able to use shields, yet not all of them do. However, they still get "shieldesque" skills like Magic Guard because part of their option of equipment is, case in point, a shield. Same for Warriors and Shadowers. They have shield related skills (I can go as far to say Meso Guard and Power Guard are shield-themed abilities because these classes can equip shields), but they don't HAVE to have shields. Again, I could just be nit-picky because the skill name is "Aegis Shield", and unless they change the name to someone like Thor's Resilience, I expect a class with shields as an option.

spadow said that Full Swing increases the damage by the percent given in the skill

ex:-12 MP, Increases Double Attack’s damage by 90% and you can attack twice. -20 MP, Increases Triple Attack’s damage by 230%.

seems like the only explanation of double attack's low percentage in the skill

In order to have something like that, you'd have to create a whole new section in the WZ files. I don't think Nexon is going to do that. Instead, I believe they'll stick with the polearms they already have.

The dagger using class could be a "medical" class! They could produce poisons and use skills that require items that need to be made in a chemist sort of way.
For instance: class uses poisons for high DPS, or some chemicals to enhance damage.
Class makes chemicals that reduce weapon damage of party members, increase attack, etc.
Get what I'm saying?

Warriors, Combo.
Magicians, Chained spells, order of casting changes the result.

Excuse my while I go grow a third arm with a hand attached.

Could work pretty interestingly though, as you have the tough choice of mobility or power, like what hurricane was supposed to be. You can dodge monsters, or you can plow through them. It works though, because it takes incredible skill to fire a bow while mobile, so staying in one spot would increase aim.

It's not so much a problem of getting there, but a problem of whether or not using these skills resets the counter to 0.

Then again, since the buff lasts like 2 minutes it shouldn't be that hard to get that high if the boss is stationary.

i don't see *too* much changed data, but I think it might be better to let Fiel take a look at it. If you want a short version, there's a bit of login info for Aran on the Race Select screen:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/Isaac_mage/RaceSelectarantext0.png

The Race Select Icon only features 2 shaded figures instead of 5, one holding a polearm and one with an Axe. This could be indicative of incomplete artwork or concept, or it could just be a pure warrior race (which to me seems weird). Only a few new skill animations (Aegis Shield is one of them). I think I'll have better luck interpreting it from in game so I'll go check it out. Bring back some screenshots.

The combo counter was not what I expected. I thought 300 was a number on a meter that built up and accumulated like energy, rather than an actual combo. I really hope that some passive skill like Polearm Mastery increases the time the combo counter stays on. Can you imagine trying to maintain that against anything that dispels, or training on a sparse map? I also hope all the skills that require a combo counter to use either refreshes the counter, or has a really fast animation. I can see it now:

Activate Aegis Shield.
Counter resets to 0 because it casts for too long.

The combo really only works on monsters with a large amount of HP. I got up to a 50 hit combo on a mob of anniversary cakes (6 damage per hit no matter what). Misses don't break the combos. The combo fades out slowly, and if you hit again before it fully disappears it will continue. Unfortunately it is pretty tough to move from one monster to another with it intact, and when I was one-hitting anything (Snails) it wouldn't chain no matter what I did.

The attack skill is more like "dash" in that it's a passive change to the character. You have to tap regular Attack (which I set to S, instead of control, and it worked fine) two times to perform the second hit, which reduces MP. It always swings with a regular attack, so no stab worries. the Flash-jump forward skill, I found it to be rather useless because you can't use it in the air...

I did say it's still in development stage. Nobody ever reads the entire thing. As far as combo-ing goes, my ideal combo-ing system would be similar to the Tales Series combo-system, but with a twist. But similar to a Buccaneer on MS, after you do a certain amount of combos, you can activate newer ones for a temporary amount of time.

This this going to be relatvie to your level or the % you take off an enemy? It'd be quite confusing then to calculate what monsters will let you combo on them and what not if it scales with level.

I'm actually finding the dash skill kind of useful, but hard to use.
I have to press ALT (jump) and SHIFT (FJkey) to almost at the same time to get it to jump, it is kind of tedious and I have already come to the conclusion it will not be maxed seeing as it being level5 I can do the ALT+FJ combo and jump pretty far.

To me that sounds like an archer jump shot, like it's not supposed to happen. Dunno, haven't used it too much but I'm finding it a massive waste of MP.

So that means that the high level skills that say you need to press direction direction attack work just like they do in fighter games. You press the key combination then the attack key and you do it. That sounds like a lot of fun :O

Haven't gotten that skill yet,
but I have gotten the soulblade like skill.
Its pretty hard to activate the skill without loosing your combo and with the glitchy combo system its even more annoying.
Atleast B3 has a good sniping spot for PA. :shine:

Everytime that you hit the enemy you drain 15% damage to heal as HP, AND the buff will remain continuous? OKAY!

If this, this class will rarely need HP potions while training, That's going to be game breaking.

Sins, Marauders, and Clerics.

All 3 sacrifice training speed or killing power to heal HP. This class has it on as an active buff. Big difference. Wouldn't you wish that your Beholder healed you for x4-x6 the amount that it heals at max (2,000-3,000), or healed every second instead of every 4 seconds?

Yeah, it's kind of like that I would imagine for this class.

Gonna nit-pick the HP/MP gain right now:

-You only gained 46 HP that level (10 less than a Brawler, and 20 less than a warrior). Very pitiful for a warrior class, because I'm predicting one at level 120 to only have 5,507 HP. MP gain is normal like a Warrior. Looks like INT gear will do wonders for the class and HP washing too (since it looks like this class HP washing formula looks similar to a warrior's in that it'll only take 4 MP to wash one point of HP).

*Forgot to comment on the Flash Jump skill. Holy grasshoppers Batman! The range is INSANE. Hermit Flash Jump's got nothing on this.

So , they added the job to KMST , but didn't add the whole story about this job? Can't wait till they release the full thing. I wonder if they'll add an area for this job like Ereb (They probably will)

Oh and , it's pretty obvious the picture in the select screen shows 2 chars and they both have pole-arms. You can see it's the same pole-arm , the pole-arm the boy char is holding is not an axe , you can see it's very long.

20 Polearm Smash and 20 Polearm Push might be a better choice since 19 Smash only hits 8 monsters compared to 20 hitting 10. Combined with Push, you can actually create the mobs to be large enough for this to be effective. Though then again, Whirlwind does only drag 8...

I don't see it very necessary to max Smart Knockback right off the bat. Do you really need that much KB? What are examples of monsters that have that much KB at 83? I'd find Snow Charge's Slow and damage boost to be more beneficial than even more KB than you'd need. You'd probably be training at Red Wyverns with Snow Charge, and they need 5000 KB. This would probably be scaled down to how much funding you'd need, really, but the skill's entire purpose is probably to keep monsters in place as you attack so your combo won't break if they run past you and you have to take time to turn around.

Yeah, I guess 20 PA push would work better than 19 Body Pressure.

I think I might want to switch WW with Smart KB, but I'd have to see the sort of damage they're doing. Snow Charge can be saved for later because by 8x no mobs should really be over-running you. I'll switch WW and SKB though.
