It looks ok from afar, but I think her eyes look kinda strange close up. O_o
Also, her smile's ambiguous.

Overall the pictures looks good. The only problem I have is with the face. The eyes should probably include a little white. She needs eyebrows. I don't like the dark splotch on her nose. And her mouth looks like an odd smirk. But, I love the dress and the glowing arms.
(My friend sitting next to me said her nose looks like a puppy's.)
thanks for all the feedback!
any comments about the style? am trying to reproduce Genki style.
the thing with Genki style is that she has stated that she struggles with realism, and usually gets another sense of 'stylisedness' - surreal if you like - so i was trying to convey that, mostly. my normal mode is realism and am trying to step out of that.
harrison - guess the eyes are a bit weird, is hard imitating someone else's style of eyes!! need to work on that
i am also referring to her "eve" picture: http://fc85.deviantart.com/fs42/f/2009/071/d/e/Eve_by_Pochi_chan.png you can see am trying to copy Genki's nose which is for all intents and purposes a "blob," she does have nostrils though so could try that!

Her face is scary. Maybe it's because there's little to no gradient between the eyes/mouth/nose and skin.
hmm does look a bit skeletal heh

The first thing I notice is that Genki's pieces tend to have the lineart more visible. Also, her shading, though made "softer" with opacity brushes, looks like it has a harder edge rather than a soft one.
Even so, I'm interested to see where this study will go. Continue por favor! :glitter:
thank you! don't have the file here with me (i usually paint stuff on my desktop + tablet, but today am at uni, with tiny laptop + tiny touchpad for a cursor - not quite the same!) but think i really have to start doing lineart, it is quite characteristic of Genki and she uses it everywhere. tend to avoid using lines personally. this particular piece was brushing and 100%-smudging, no lineart at all.
good point with the hard edge thought. what is she using that gives it such a hard edge? it is very characteristic too! like she has a special brush or something! maybe i'll try with default non-diffuse brushes..

To be honest, other than to learn new techniques, I don't like imitation-style art - I think what people make from their own ideas/imagination looks far better. Not to say this is bad though.
i find am getting myself into a rut of realism. it is challenging and difficult to make myself use new techniques and use my medium (GIMP, or photoshop or whatever) in novel ways. otherwise will be forever using the fuzzy opacity brush for lineart and shading only!!
i happen to like Genki style, also it is extremely elusive and challenging ): heh am starting to look at other styles too but have not conquered this one yet.
