Ty, the only time I seem to produce anything nice is when I just start drawing randomly and let a picture form. I can't for the life of me translate thoughts into art, so I just do subconscious art or w/e. I really love the caligraphy tool in Gimp, obviously. My old avatar was drawn with it as well.

-edit-
More will be added as I feel like, I made these as a form of venting. I normally do one of two things to vent "excess" emotion, such as depression, anger, or other "negative" emotions -
1) Create alternate personalities to house these emotions, then...I can only describe it as "deleting" them, basically erasing their existence, emotions and all. Somehow this seems to get rid of the emotional weight for myself as well.
2) Randomized art - start drawing/sculpting/creating, beginning with random lines/shapes and letting pictures form from what I see in them, slowly building on them. The above are examples of #2. This is more preferred by me, as I've had one or two incidents of negative personalities gaining foothold against my own, which, although rare, scares the crap out of me. Only seems to happen when I let them store too much without deleting them, or when I let them exist for too long.
